Using a UAV to Survey Chimney Rock
How high is Chimney Rock? How high was it in the 1800’s? How much has it eroded over time? How long will it last? Will it erode away to nothing?
These are some of the questions that Baker & Associates wanted to determine when they performed an aerial survey using an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle recently. The UAV performed multiple passes flying over Chimney Rock, collecting millions of points of data. This data was converted into a 3D digital model of Chimney Rock.
The Scottsbluff Star Herald newspaper wrote a nice article about the project.
