Western Sugar Wastewater Improvements

The Western Sugar Plant in Scottsbluff is a major facility discharging more gallons per day of wastewater than the City of Scottsbluff.  The plant can discharge up to more than 8 million gallons per day of water to the North Platte River.  Baker & Associates has been working with WS in design of several improvements to better treat and clean the water before it reaches the river.  Measures include lined lagoons, UV disinfection of the water, added oxygen mixers, and a diffuser to better dilute the water at the river discharge point.  The project will be completed in 2014.
